My Self-Care Project

Hi everyone!

I chose the medium of a professional website for photographers alongside photographs as the centrepiece of my self-care project because I enjoy photography and often spend my free time editing pictures, I take every year. Thus, utilizing artistic expression as a way for self-care is the main idea for my project.

I find that photography especially, post-processing, allows me to combine my creativity and self-expression to find my inner peace. Today, I will share my post-processing journey with pictures I took this summer. Over the past few weeks, I have dedicated my free time to transforming pictures I have taken through post-processing before and after my LSAT exam. These images reflect not only the subjects I have chosen but also the emotions I have experienced while crafting them. As you go through my galleries under the “Taiwan" and "Canada" tabs, you will notice the differences in style and tones in each image with an explanation about my editing and thought process while editing. The reason for different styles and tones reflects the major theme of the power of artistic creativity to process my emotions and feelings, which I wish to convey with my photographs.

My self-care project centred on photography and image editing, has allowed me to explore the beauty of everyday life in Taiwan and Canada. I believe that each image is a testament to the emotional and artistic transformation I have experienced during this editing process in promoting my mental well-being during this stressful semester. I hope you can all discover the joy of creativity through art as a form of self-care as it promotes the importance of self-care through visual storytelling and creativity!
